Experience
I first became interested in photography at a young age hiking and backpacking in the Selkirk and Rocky Mountains. I wanted to capture the essence of the outdoor experience and show it to others. Over the years I have been fortunate to have had the direct and indirect mentorship of some very talented photographers and artists. These individuals taught me that I need to discover who I was and how I saw and interacted with the world before I could take a photograph of any lasting impact for anyone else viewing it. In the summer of 2000 I began apprenticing with a Vancouver wedding photographer, and in doing so I took my vision of photographing nature and developed a passion for photographing people as they relate to nature and to each other.
Style
The words Photojournalistic or Candid are commonly used to describe styles of photography. I approach each picture with the goal to capture the moment as it happens naturally - because rarely do certain moments ever repeat themselves - while minimizing my interference in the scene itself. This approach works for me, regardless if the subject is a couple, a mountain landscape, wildlife, or any type of social event.
